Subject: How reliable is a home color palette check?
Message:
I am sorting accessories for a local play and have encountered an odd lighting puzzle. We have two equally dark scarves, one pinkish and one leaning toward copper. Under the rehearsal lamps, the rust scarf gives the actor a healthy warmth. Near the entrance windows, that same scarf creates a strong orange shadow. The rose scarf looks restrained on stage but clearer and calmer near the windows. Neither scarf belongs to us, and the production has no replacement allowance. I kept the camera position and white balance fixed for every comparison shot. The photographs preserve the difference, but they do not tell me which light should guide us. I checked this skin tone analysis page for a repeatable comparison method. The comparison method helped isolate temperature from simple lightness or darkness. I am leaning toward the cooler scarf with a modest change to stage lighting. The compromise matters because the final entrance uses brighter, cooler illumination. I would welcome examples from costuming, portrait photography, or stage lighting. I would value a workable theatre solution over a rigid personal-color conclusion.
